THE A. FRANKLIN DEUBLE, JR. MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
A. FRANKLIN (FRANK) DEUBLE, JR.

- Past President of the Southwestern Division of the International Association of Fire Chiefs
- Retired Chief Public Information Officer at Bernalillo County Fire District 7
- Owner of Independent Fire Company of Albuquerque, New Mexico
- The A. Franklin Deuble, Jr. Memorial Scholarship is established to honor his work and dedication to the Southwestern Division of the International Association of Fire Chiefs (hereafter referred to as the SWD-IAFC)
1). Applicant must be a child or grandchild of an active member, associate member, or active life member of the SWD-IAFC.
2). Minimum a 3.0 GPA upon completion of senior year in a high school, or previous college term.
3). Good moral character as attested by the letters of recommendation.
4). Two letters of recommendation must be submitted with the scholarship application of which at least one letter must be from a faculty member from the last school attended.
5). Applicant must submit an essay of at least one hundred-fifty words on how this scholarship will help fulfill their educational and career goals (see application).
6). Scholarship recipients will be required to develop a report (due to be received by the SWD-IAFC no later than sixty (60) days after the close of the Semester or Term) indicating benefits received from the A. Frank Deuble, Jr. Scholarship award.
Two $500 scholarships per year (one scholarship per term or semester) will be awarded. Funds will be coordinated between the SWD-IAFC and the student’s choice of the secondary educational institution selected.
Applications must be received by the SWD-IAFC no later than the last day of January for the following Fall Semester and the last day of July for the following Spring Semester.
The President of the Southwestern Division of the International Association of Fire Chiefs will appoint a Scholarship Committee to review and select the applicant who best meets the established criteria. The Chairman of the Scholarship Committee will present the committee’s recommendation to the SWD-IAFC’s Board of Directors for final approval. The SWD-IAFC committee will notify the scholarship recipient when the selection is made.
